Slaughter on the Khyber Pass (1970)

Original title: La Furia dei Khyber

Exotic adventure. Spain/Italy. Starring Peter Lee Lawrence, Alan Steel, Carlos Quiney, Antonio Mayans & Luis Barboo. Directed by José Luis Merino.

Videofilm AB (Sweden). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

Dry but enjoyable exotic adventure for us who can't get enough of teadrinking gentlemen and men in turbans. The lovely imperialists of the Honourable East India Company are pitted against the evil Kali whorshippers of the Khyber pass. 3/5

The Treasure of Bengal

Original title: Il Tesoro del Bengala

Exotic adventure. Italy. Starring Sabu, Luisella Boni, Luigi Tosi & Carla Calò. Directed by Gianni Vernuccio.

EKO Video (UK). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Amazons and Supermen (1975)

Original title: Superuomini, Superdonne, Superbotte

Adventure/Amazons/Comedy. Italy/Hong Kong/Mexico. Starring Malisa Longo, Nick Jordan & Hua Yueh. Directed by Alfonso Brescia.

Videotower (Finland). English dubbed. Widescreen.

Against all odds this silly amazon/masked hero/slapstick Italian-Hong Kong co-production by schlock-mesister Alfonso "Al Bradley" Brescia came out as a ton of fun! It's exentric and all over there, but not badly made. Way superior to Brescia's earlier fur-bikini opus Battle of the Amazons. In fact, it gets my vote for the most shamefully entertaining slice of amazon mayhem ever made! 4/5

Queen of the Tartars (1960)

Original title: La Regina dei Tartari

Peplum. Italy/France. Starring Chelo Alonso, Jacques Sernas, Mario Petri, Piero Lulli, Raf Baldassarre, Philippe Hersent & Andrea Scotti. Directed by Sergio Grieco.

Delta Video (Holland). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

This one was quite a surprise! It's kinda like the first 10 minutes of a sword and sorcery flick, where a bunch of barbarians dressed up as Manowar pillage some village, but for 90 minutes. It even features a man in a bear costume! The tartar queen is really a kick-ass girl, who takes no crap and is a better leader than the men (ps! she's really cute too). I wouldn't go an call it feminist masterpiece, but well... it's about as feminist as the peplum genre gets (remember this is the genre where women with black hair are automatically cunning and evil). Great peplum with lots of charm! 4/5

King of Kong Island (1968)

Original title: Eva, la Venere Selvaggia

Sci-Fi/Jungle adventure. Italy. Starring Brad Harris, Esmeralda Barros & Marc Lawrence. Directed by Roberto Mauri.

Mariann Video (Sweden). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

Not quite as good as the cover promises, but how could it be? A veeery cheezy film that won't be for everybody. It throws in a little bit of everything: a mad scientist, mindcontrolled gorillas, Brad Harris flexing his muscles and of course a semi-naked jungle girl. I had fun with it. 3/5

Gungala, the Naked Panther (1968)

Original title: Gungala la Pantera Nuda

Jungle adventure. Italy. Starring Kitty Swan. Directed by Ruggero Deodato.

Video Art (Greece). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Compared to the first Gungala this is a pretty weak and charmfree film. But it's got jungle gal numero uno, Kitty Swan, semi-naked in the jungle and of course that makes up for a lot of its shortcomings. 3/5

Tarzan and the Valley of Gold (1966)

Jungle adventure (sort of). USA/Switzerland/Mexico. Starring Mike Henry, David Opatoshu, Nancy Kovack & Manuel Padilla Jr. Directed by Robert Day.

Silver Video Productions (Greece). English language. Letterboxed. Very battered print with lots of jumps and scratches.

The kind of movie that would make Tarzan nostalgics go crazy, this trashy flick has Tarzan entering civlization as a James Bond-type hero, he even uses firearms! You can say a lot of things about this film but it's not boring... 3/5
