The Land That Time Forgot (1975)

Fantasy/Adventure. UK/USA. Starring Doug McClure, John McEnery, Susan Penhaligon & Keith Barron. Directed by Kevin Connor.

Thorn-Emi (Sweden). English language. Letterboxed (slightly). This tape is no longer in my collection.

The first of many brittish boys' adventures with stop-motion dinosaurs that Kevin Connor cranked out like a one-man fantasy factory during the seventies. It was some time since I saw these but I remember liking them all (except the dull The People That Time Forgot). Doug McClure is the man. 3/5

  1. I love the four fantasy films Conner directed and PEOPLE is my favorite of the quartet. The cast, the score, the storyline and cliffhanger moments during the last half made an impression on me the others didn't. None of these feature stop motion animated monsters, though. It's all mock ups or guys in costumes. You should check these out again, Lars. I did reviews for all four at my site if you wanna reacquaint yourself with the series. They don't make them like this anymore!

  2. Hehe, there you have it, I don't remember squat about these films! It was years and years since I saw them and they're all mixed up in my head. The only thing I can remember from this one that seperates from the others is that the first part takes place on a submarine. I think I liked this one and Warlords of Atlantis best. People That Time Fogot was the one I saw most recently and I remember the reason it didn't work well with me I believe was the dull melodramatic lovestory between the hero and the neanderthal girl that slowed the whole thing down and made me lose interest in what was going on. Perhaps it was just a case of watching it the wrong time.
I have equipped myself with the necessary DVD:s and plan to revisit them in the near future. Saw that Connor's Arabian Adventure have been released on DVD too, need to pick that one up too.
