Get Mean (1976)

Western /Adventure/Peplum (!!). Italy. Starring Tony Anthony, Raf Baldassarre, Diana Lorys & Lloyd Battista. Directed by Ferdinando Baldi.

VCL (Sweden). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Mindboggling "western". You could write an essay about how dumb this film is but let me just conclude that the gunman Tony Anthony is hired to protect the princess of Spain (!) from vikings (!!) and a moorish warlord (!!!) with a Caligula complex and his hunchbacked sidekick! I wonder what they were smoking when they wrote this (admittedly fun) film? 3/5

  1. After having done A STRANGER IN JAPAN, aka THE SILENT STRANGER, Tony wanted to do a stranger film set in China - but when MGM decided to put the third "Stranger" film on the shelf for years, they couldn't raise the needed money. They decided instead to set the film in Spain - but what many viewers of GET MEAN didn't understand is that the silver orb sends our hero back in time - which he himself never figures out. The hope was that if GET MEAN was successful, it would mean they could put the Stranger into situations at anytime in history. Instead, Tony's next film would be a quasi-remake of BLINDMAN in 3D called COMIN' AT YA!
